The UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) will be among 20 entities that will participate in the Consumer Protection Zone (CPZ) exhibit at ICE London 2023.

There is an increased focus on player protection in the UK at the moment as the government continues its review of the country’s gambling laws. The much-awaited White Paper detailing major gambling reforms aimed at protecting customers from harm will be published next year, as indicated by Gambling Minister Paul Scully.

UKGC Joins ICE London 2023 CPZ

The UKGC will be at the CPZ and will take part in discussions on safer gambling and the latest information, tools, research, and innovations that seek to enhance the industry’s approach to consumer protection.

The UKGC will be joined by responsible gambling solution providers as well as charities and non-profit organizations throughout the UK, such as Casino Guru, Department of Trust, Focal Research, Future Anthem, Rightlander, Intuita Consulting, Mindway AI, W2, LexisNexis, IGT, Crucial Compliance and SG:Certified.

Other attendees include Gordon Moody, BetKnowmore, YGAM, GamCare, Responsible Gaming Council, National Center for Problem Gaming and GAMSTOP.

The CPZ has been at the heart of the ICE London event since 2018. It returns in 2023, from February 7-9, at ExCel London.
CPZ Continues to Grow

The CPZ has gone a long way since its launch. From eight pioneer exhibitors, the number grew to 14 in 2022 which will become 20 next year. Clarion Gaming’s Director of Industry Insight and Engagement Ewa Bakun said the CPZ, which is the brainchild of UKGC Executive Director Tim Miller, has been among the many success stories to have originated at ICE.

The CPZ was nominated in two categories during the recent VIXIO Gambling Compliance Global Regulatory Awards. It went on to win the Responsible Approach to Advertising and Marketing category, which is a strong recognition of the work that it’s been doing over the past few years.

Apart from promoting responsible gambling and consumer protection, the CPZ has also been involved in various fundraising efforts. So far, it has raised £146,000 for gambling industry charities, with donations from major operators, including Entain, Kindred, and Sky Bet.

Bakun said they’re looking to build on that total and hope to bring the figure to nearly £200,000 in 2023.
